I remember as a child I would get so depressed after Christmas. I mean, I had toys to play with, thanks to my mother making Christmas an event to remember. However, the excitement was over, people seemed to drag along in their daily lives anticipating a cold, dreary winter (yes, even in Georgia), and New Year's Eve, which soon approached, didn't seem like that great of a holiday if you didn't have anyone to spend it with...
This year seems to be different. How nice it is to buy gifts for the ones you love and anticipate their enthusiasm at what they receive, especially if you know they really want that special gift and are getting it for Christmas. Take my nine year old nephew; how happy he will be when he opens his PSP and everything that goes with it, the carrying case, games, movies, etc. I wish I had a cool uncle like him. So, this year, with a new boyfriend and some happiness in my life, after the gifts are opened on Christmas, there really is no need for depression. New Year's Eve will soon arrive, my boyfriend's birthday will be next, Valentine's Day, and Spring days at the pool and the beach will be here before you know it.
And, then of course will be two cool events in January. For those of us Madge fans, there is the anticipated release of the Confessions tour on DVD on January 23, 2007. Yes, I saw the production on NBC and Bravo, but better yet, I saw the concernt in New York. I thought Madison Square Garden was going to explode when the lady of the evening busted out in her major dance hit, "Sorry." So many gay guys at the Garden that night listening to the diva sing a song of letting a guy have it after being "done wrong" one too many times. The guys loved hearing the diva sing a song of "moving on" after dealing with a jerk. What a great anthem for getting over a bad relationship and moving on....My favorite song of course was "Get Together", especially if you have someone in mind of who you would like to get together with...Hmmm
The second event? Well, American Idol of course. Does it really matter who wins? Not really. Its just pure fun of watching people make fools of themselves and see great upcoming singers fufill their hopes and dreams. Being a former singer with a college degree in music, it is great to watch someone get a taste of "the business", both the good and the bad. Oh, the comments from Simon are the best and trying to figure out what Paula Abdul is talking about is a challenge, but all part of the fun...
Okay, not sure if all of these blog entries will be entirely positive and upbeat like this one, but it is Christmas, after all...
